🏰 Rebranding Update: Welcome to the Developer’s Keep 🏰

Greetings to our esteemed community members! We’re ushering in a new era for our Discord server, and we have some major changes on the horizon. Here’s a comprehensive breakdown of what to expect.

Reasons for Rebranding

Our dedicated Head Admin, Canter, due to his ever-increasing life commitments, has found it challenging to dedicate the necessary time to moderate our thriving server. With a heavy heart, he has decided to entrust the server’s reins to a longtime trusted friend - yours truly, C0MPL3X-IV.

Joining hands and envisioning the server’s future, we resolved to breathe new life into our community. A pivotal part of this rejuvenation? Rebranding our server to “Developer’s Keep”1.

1 Note: Here, 'keep' is used as a noun, referring to the innermost and strongest structure of a medieval castle.

Revamping of the Rules

We acknowledge that our previous oversight allowed a few wrongdoers to linger longer than they should have. However, it’s important to remember our strength lies in unity – with an impressive member count of over 8,200!

To ensure a harmonious environment, we’re instituting more stringent rule enforcement and slightly restructuring our rules:

  1. Be respectful to others.
  2. No NSFW content.
  3. No spamming
  4. No advertising (Discord Servers, Links, Self-Promotion) unless approved by a moderator
  5. No unsolicited DMs, unless there is sufficient reason to do so
  6. No creepy behaviour, antagonistic behaviour, harassment, etc.
  7. Check the channel descriptions before posting
  8. Intentional Circumvention of the Auto Mod Filters in Moderated Channels will result in a warning, a timeout and a ban2
  9. Don’t ask to ask, just ask!
  10. When requesting assistance, provide as much information as possible, be patient and cooperative
  11. Be specific when asking questions. Please provide:
    • Code (in codeblocks or Pastebin with proper syntax highlighting)
    • Errors (if applicable)
    • Expected behaviour
    • Actual behaviour
    • Attempts to solve the problem
  12. You’re responsible for solving your own problems. We’re here to help, not to do your work for you
    • You’re expected to put in more effort than the person helping you
    • Avoid asking for complete solutions, for the sake of your own learning
  13. Refrain from asking for help with illegal activities. Includes, but not limited to:
    • Cracking
    • Piracy
    • Copyright Infringement
    • Academic Dishonesty
    • Violation of ToS
  14. Please use common sense. Technicalities are not an excuse for breaking the rules.

We will introduce an automated 3-warning policy. Users receiving 3 major warnings will face an automated ban issued by our server bot.

Updated Infrastructure

Our server has boasted a vast infrastructure at its brightest times, from custom sites to specialized bots. It’s time to revive these features, starting with our exclusive bot and the very site hosting this announcement.

Discord Server Updates

Channels

The channels will be restructured to better suit our community’s needs. Several channels will be archived and a few new ones will be added.

More of those updates will be seen within the Discord Server itself.

Roles

As some may have noticed, Gender Roles already disappeared just recently, since Discord allows to set those up in the user settings now.

We will also be removing the Skill Levels as they don’t contribute much to the server anymore and are not used by many people.

Bots

We will be removing all the bots, except for the Compiler bot. Additionally, we will be adding our own bot, which will be used primarily for moderation. That said, we will gladly take suggestions for features to add to the bot.
